Fire prevention: operational fire protection
Wherever many people meet together, e.g. in the
production, in the service sector or in trade, it is very important to prevent
dangers and take appropriate measures in case of an emergency.
- Detect possible fire hazards at the work place (paper
basket, photocopier, other devices) and have them removed.
- Observe existing smoking bans.
- Never dispose of matches and remaining tobacco in paper
baskets.
- Keep your area in order and tidy to make it more
difficult for a fire to arise and spread.
- Do not use private cooking or heating devices. If
deficits of fire protection equipment and electrical installations (flickering
lights, smell of a smouldering fire) are observed or if this equipment is
conspicuous in any way, please inform the person responsible for fire
protection and/or your superior.
- Give notice of damaged operational equipment. This must
be repaired by experts only.
- Switch off all unnecessary electric consumers when
leaving your work place. Safety devices and telecommunications systems remain
ready for operation at all times.
- Escape routes, stairs and traffic routes must be kept
clear; these areas must not be used to store material.
- Safety regulations (see fire protection regulation as
well as escape and rescue plans) must be known and observed.
- People must be informed about the aim and object as well
as the handling of fire detection and fire protection equipment available in
the building.
- Observe "Conduct in case of fire".
- Public buildings have so called escape routes, which must
be marked. Please take notice of these escape routes when entering a building
for the first time.
